Really disappointed. We still do not have a completion date! Our purchase is quite straight forward, no chain from either side. In the final bill, they have added additional money laundering checks and land charges searches to my fixed quote! This is due to not knowing how many donors, even though they have provided the charge for 2 gifted deposits, as I had been transparent in what was required. When quering this, I have just been ignored. We have also missed out on payments to our help to buy isas, as we were advised to close them. Almost 2 months later, the communication from the company is minimal, and we are no nearer completion. Only use this company if you are happy with a long wait, lack of communication explaining what this wait is for on what we were told is a relatively simple purchase, missing out on additional help to buy bonuses due to being wrongly informed to close your account, and additional charges being added when you have been completely clear on the extras you require. And when you do ring to ask for an update, you will be greeted with a belittling attitude with responses such as 'oh contracts are a long document, don't know if you're aware of that'. If you are not happy with receiving this service, avoid!!!

Whilst your purchase is a Freehold Purchase with no related sale there is a complex aspect to the title. Contract papers were received from your sellers solicitors on 8th October (from our investigations these were incomplete due to the solar panel lease not being revealed / disclosed on any of the paperwork). As it was not recorded on the Property Register held by the Land Registry this meant the title was defective. This has been a matter which we have been investigating further with the vendors solicitors and we received the amended Register (including reference to the Solar Panel Lease) on 8th November. Your purchase also involves 2 help to buy isa’s which resulted in additional work, and 2 gifted deposits which also required additional investigation. Whilst we quoted you at the outset for the additional work relating to the gifted deposits the Money Laundering fee (£10 plus VAT per name) was omitted. We have since removed the Money Laundering fee from your completion statement, as this was our error.

Avoid at all costs. After more than 18 months of purchasing our property, it still hasn’t been registered in our name, despite numerous phone calls and emails to Borneo Martell About this always ended with an excuse of “we’ve chased this recently” which led me to take responsibility of phoning land registery to find out what was the actual problem and what was taking so long, they made it clear that there was no chasing with them and they still held outstanding requisitions. This has posed a massive issue as we have now had an offer on the house but can’t progress with the sale as the title isn’t in our name after a year and a half ! What makes it worse is that not only we can loose out greatly financially on the sale of our property but we can also loose out on the new house we really want if this isn’t sorted ASAP. Their responses are slow and often unfriendly when trying to find out information and updates. This is unacceptable and unprofessional. Worst conveyancing solicitors I have ever had to deal with. I will be complaining further to the relevant bodies.

They were efficient at all times, and Georgie was extremely helpful and easy to get hold of when I needed advice or information. Unfortunately the sale was quite a stressful process due to other factors and parties involved, but I had no problems with Borneo Martell.
