Thorburn Property Consultants Ltd are a locally based company specialising in all types of residential building surveying providing an efficient, friendly and high quality service.

We provide three different types of survey to suit the individual requirements and circumstances of our clients –

  • Valuations
  • Homebuyer Survey
  • Full Building Survey.

Our surveyors are local to the property and are members of the RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors). All of our surveyors carry professional indemnity cover. We will provide you with initial, no obligation advice on the type of survey required for the property.

It is the buyer’s responsibility to uncover the defects of a property, and therefore recommended a survey is employed. Thorburn Property Consultants were provided timely, friendly and thorough service. Following their very thorough survey, I was offered a 30 minute session to review the findings - during which time they were extremely patient in explaining even the most basic construction terminology, as well as providing me helping me form a clear picture of next steps. I would have no hesitation in recommending Thorburn, and returning to them for future surveys!

I was really pleased with the service provided by Thorburn Property Consultants. They were quick to organise the survey and were patient answering my questions and queries, as well as giving a comprehensive quote. The report received was extremely good quality and the surveyor took the time to talk me through each user and explain the background, which was particularly useful as a first time buyer. The price was very good value for the incredible and quick service.

It may have been that the occupiers were irritated by the upheaval caused by us carrying out a full and thorough survey inspection, though to do anything else would be wholly inappropriate. We were about 1 hour early and the survey was made most awkward by the number of tenants and excess personal belongings, nevertheless we were very thorough in all aspects of our work and courteous and do not accept that at any time we were unprofessional. We had closed the front door behind us and as the tenants were using the property we did not lock the back door. We accept that the earlier than stated arrival time may have caused some inconvenience but had we been asked to return an hour later we would have done so and cannot accept this is grounds for a complaint/bad review. The nature of surveying residential properties will inevitably cause some timing issues, but all reasonable parties should be able to accept this. I had apologised for the date mistake in the report and corrected and re-issued it, and without access to the land registry documents I would stand by the estimated date of construction in the report. I was aware that the property last sold date was in 2004, though in my opinion I do not believe this to be the original date of construction and whilst I am happy to review the land registry plan I believe my estimate in the report to be accurate.

I used TPC for surgery of the house I was purchasing, I was very impressed with the speed of the response and setting up of the appointment. Also they were available to discuss the report in detail and really left me with the impression that I could ask any query on the report, will definitely recommend them
