I shopped around for a local surveyor as the nationwide companies charged a lot more for the particular survey I wanted. I found the process very quick and was very impressed with the communication and service. It was all carried out very professionally and to a high standard. I even received two paper copies of the completed survey in the post, which I hadn't in the past with a previous company. Overall it was very good value for money and would highly recommend them.

Having heard horror stories about people getting rejected for their mortgage in the last minutes, I decided to arrange a survey after a mortgage decision to minimize my loss shall my mortgage application not get through. So I instructed Paul to have a look at the house as soon as I get my mortgage offer. The first appointment was cancelled at no fault of Paul (the vendor had forgotten the appointment), but I only found out the cancellation when I called Paul two days later after the scheduled appointment. Over the phone, I made Paul aware that I was only waiting for the survey and the survey would determine whether I should buy the property or back off. I told him that I need the report quite urgently, and I specially requested an electronic copy being sent to my email address as soon as it became ready. Paul said he could do that for me. Thus, I was not impressed when he did not. The report took a whole week for the report to be arrived in my hand after he visited the house and I certainly think it could have done quicker. From instruction to getting the report, it took just over 2 weeks. After reading the report, however, I was impressed with the level of details in the report and felt that my money was well spent. I would still recommend Paul to any buyer. However, I feel there are room for improvement. e.g. there should be a system in place where clients can give special instruction or follow the progress online, instead of having to call to disturb Paul every time when a single problem comes up.
