Scunthorpe, known to some as the ‘Industrial Garden Town’, is the third largest settlement in Lincolnshire. The town developed through the exploitation of Iron resources and the formation of Iron works from 1850 onwards causing the local football team, Scunthorpe United, to be nicknamed ‘The Iron’.
