Rayleigh is a heritage market town situated in the rolling hills of the Essex countryside. Traditionally the site of royal forests, Rayleigh is today better known for its community spirit and local history. Every week a market is held amongst the charming buildings of the town centre which has experienced modern redevelopments but also retained its traditional character.
To understand the history of Rayleigh, you must visit the recently opened Rayleigh Town Museum which explains its Saxon and Roman past. Or better yet, see it for you self at the Rayleigh Mount National Trust park. A luscious green space that is walking distance from the town centre, it houses a heritage windmill and an old fortified castle upon a hill from which you get great views of the whole Crouch Valley.
Rayleigh is also only a 20 minute drive from the beautiful Essex coast. With just a short trip you can be at the pier at Southend-On-Sea or by the beach at the traditional tourist hotspot of Canvey Island. If you prefer the urban, central London is just an easy 40 minute train away from Rayleigh. Perfect for commuting or even just for days out. If you’re planning a move anywhere in this lovely area, make sure you choose only the best movers with reallymoving.
