We used this company for our move over a year ago but there is not a single day gone pass when I not think that it is our so bad luck that we used this company. We relied on them and used the complete package of packing and moving. Because we were living in our old address for 17 years and because we are old couple , over the years we collected lot of things. One of my very precious collection was old coins, 1st day covers, 2012 Olympic coins and stamps etc etc. Also I always liked costume jewellery I had lot of that from various places I visited over the years. Because we had so many boxes to open once we moved and because we are in our 70s ,and also we moved to a smaller place we were taking it easy to open the boxes. Finally after 2-3 months when we were coming to an end to emptied the boxes then only we realized they have very cleverly taken my collection of coins etc , which I put in a case and my jewellery , which they packed and took. My collection were really priceless and I think their team of people are not to be relied upon. They can steal things because they know eople will not open their boxes straight away to check if everything is there. So be aware do not use this company.

We hired Otex to move us from Surrey to Northamptonshire in November last year and although the initial site survey and quotation process was conducted very professionally, alarm bells should have rung when I had to chase the quote 3 times. Despite this, as everything else had seemed very professional, we proceeded with confirming our booking; WHAT A HUGE MISTAKE!!

On the packing day, they did not turn up until late morning and had insufficient boxes and van space and left mid afternoon with less than one room packed. The packing standards as we later found out were appalling.

We were supposed to be moved by midday the following day and they still had not arrived by 9am to continue packing. They did arrive later in the morning with additional personnel and packing materials and van space, but had to rush to complete the job. Our valued items and possessions were treated terribly; TVs left on the tarmac outside, CDs and DVDs thrown into boxes, even a chip fryer with oil still in was just packed into a box! No common sense was used at all.

None of the staff wore uniforms as it says on the web site, the Vans were shabby and dirty and no coverings were used on our sofas except old blankets, certainly no proper plastic sofa covers were used.

They initially refused to move items out of the loft, siting Health and Safety reasons, despite the surveyor knowing full well that this was to be included and it was never mentioned this would be an issue.

On arrival at the new property, the items were unpacked in a speedy manner, however, we immediately found a steam cleaner and large cabinet had been badly damaged. Over the coming days we reported these damages and our dissatisfaction at the level of service.

It transpires that we had signed documentation which we were told was required in case the vans were stopped by the police, which also contained a performance questionnaire, which we refused to complete until the job was finished. We later found out this has been fraudulently completed by the removal team. In the pursuing days, we also came to finds out that over £200 in foreign currency had also been misappropriated.

We have been in constant communication with Otex about our issues and complaints, but they have completely washed their hands of the issue and have never apologised or shown any concern for our anguish, nor have they recompensed us 1 penny for the broken items.

We have found the company to be discourteous, unresponsive (taking days to answer each email), untruthful, untrustworthy and wholly unreliable. I am not saying that all their removal personnel are the same calibre, but certainly one or more also err on the side of theft. Other reviewers of the company have had similar experiences if you search the internet.

Please, please DO NOT USE this company. I would hate for anyone else to go through the same stress we went through. It is a stressful enough time moving in itself, without this being compounded and made much worse by the removal company.

I have copious email exchanges with the company which details exactly what I have mentioned in summary above, and have no hesitation in leaving this damming review.

Using this company has left us with a VERY bitter taste in the mouth. We are missing items of valuable jewellery and DIY equipment. We have quite a few breakages too. When we approached the company in the desperate bid to see if any of the removal men may have recollected seeing the jewellery, they treated us with complete rudeness and told us they would not be willing to help in any way whatsoever. We did not accuse them of anything and the hostility was uncalled for and unpleasant.They then refused to send us an insurance claim form for the damage and breakages, yet they claim to have third party insurance. Really?Their website is very impressive but try and find a contact address. We have reported the events to the police and trading standards. Otex were equally unhelpful to the police and we have all reached the view that the company is an extremely dodgy outfit indeed - most likely paying cash in hand to people who would be untraceable (guess for yourself). The police are very suspicious of them and the company's representatives' aggressive reaction to us, plus their complete lack of care, should be a warning to stay well clear of these people - despite their slick website claims.

For the price this was excellent value. The team were fast and professional. We had a sweat and a bit of a wait for the keys for the new house and whilst they were asking for updates they did not complain and got on with the job with no fuss when we got our hands on the keys. The only criticism would be the van used was packed to the rafters and we had to transport a couple of tv's oursleves, but no big deal. I would recommend but ensure the survey is conducted thoroughly.

My move with Otex removals was smooth and efficient. Their price quote of£270 was reasonable since we didn't have far to go go and were only moving select items. the movers were very careful with the furniture as requested and were courteous and friendly.
They arrived early and had a list with them so there was no confusion about what needed moving.
They had a clear plan of action and stuck to it.
I would not hesitate in recommending Otex removals to friends and family.
