Moving Proz

WORST EXPERIENCE! Paid over $2,700 for Moving Proz to pack and move us from 1,300 to 3,700 sq ft, 2.4 miles away. I supervised them at first. Later, I offered to help them by driving to the final location and unloading my car (they loaded my car with bins, and I figured I’d unload them for them). I also told them I’d buy them lunch, and would return with their food. When I had the food in hand, and told them I was coming back, Mateo Chavez (lead mover) weirdly discouraged me from returning, saying they didn’t need to eat right then and were leaving to come to the house. However, they didn’t arrive for an hour (it’s a 6 minute drive). Perhaps they needed a break, but it was weird they wouldn’t want their lunch as part of that. I now believe they were trying to prevent me from coming back to the initial location, where I’d discover they hadn’t finished the job. When they finally arrived, they unloaded everything. After they got their $2,700+ and left (tipped and with pizza), we discovered several problems, the main one being that they DID NOT ACTUALLY PACK NOR MOVE MANY ITEMS FROM THE INITIAL LOCATION. They actually threw items into piles at the initial location and left them there, after lying to us and dissuading me from returning to the property. They also left their trash/drink bottles everywhere. Given that we had closed and had to be out of that location by midnight, I went to Home Depot to buy boxes and tape (they have the receipt but refuse to reimburse). I also immediately texted Mateo, who claimed they ran out of boxes and were “trying to stay on schedule.” But he never told me these things, never notified me. I immediately called Moving Proz customer service, who was polite but noncommittal. He said that he was very sorry and admitted all wrongdoing, but kept saying he needed to “talk to the manager and would keep [me] posted.” I called three times and at the third conversation he said he was trying to get some movers out that night, to do the job, but couldn’t guarantee it. He wouldn’t discuss any possibility of a refund. After three conversations he said he would call me back ASAP. So I stopped calling. And waited. I finally called back, and got a voicemail saying that customer service is closed. We’ve been defrauded. DO NOT PUT YOURSELF THROUGH THIS! Also:

• Destroyed my dresser, said it was my fault.

• Broke storage shelf, said it was already broken (nope).

• Movers (4) were WAY too young. Two looked to be no more than 16. I caught one of them smoking at my house (hiding around the side of the house). I later found 2 cigarette butts.

• They never notified us they were out of boxes. Instead, they just stopped packing and left the initial residences with unpacked items they threw into piles (clean linens on the filthy floor).

• My wedding fur was thrown onto the floor in the closet, still on the hanger.

• We know they lied about being out of boxes, as I saw stacked flattened boxes inside the truck during unloading.

• Unpacking, we discovered over 50% of boxes were only 2/3 full. They didn’t fill the boxes *we paid for*.

• There was never a maximum number of boxes quoted.

• They lied, said that everything was off the patios from the first location (I have texts).

• Movers told customer service we had “gone over inventory” but this is not reflected on the quote/contract. In fact, the quote showed us paying for 40 boxes, plus 3 wardrobe boxes, but they only packed 30 boxes. This is UNDER inventory.

• One of the “wardrobe boxes” ($16.99), which costs 5x a normal box, wasn’t a wardrobe box– it was a box they stuffed hanging clothes in, wrinkling everything.

• Several hanging clothes were left in the closet, yet one of the wardrobe boxes was packed less than 50% full.

• Getting them to reassemble beds was impossible. One bed isn’t assembled and we have to hire someone.

• Several items from inventory list were not moved (two chairs, dog house, etc). This is not “going over inventory."

• Never got an itemized receipt. Receipt only shows the total.

• Customer service admitted mistakes, then ghosted us.

Move size: 3 Bedroom Home Service cost: $2731

Movers were scheduled to be at the home between 1-3 pm. They called at 11:30 am and said they were very close to the location and offered to come early. That worked for me, so the entire move was completed before the earliest they were originally scheduled to even be at the house! The purpose of this move was to take some familiar furniture to my mother, who had to go to an assisted living facility. Completing this part of her transition early made my day much easier and more productive, and I appreciated that very much. Movers Derek and John did an excellent job, and I thank them for taking the initiative to see if they could do the job earlier as long as they were already in the neighborhood. I like to support local businesses whenever possible, and I was happy that this Lawrence-based company they were so pleasant to deal with.

Service cost: $800

I had the worst moving experience ever with this company.

I have used this company numerous times, referred countless people to them and this last experience was so bad that I wanted to share with anybody who is considering using them so nobody has to go thru this.

Movers arrived to my house on time which was a plus. As soon as they walked in the door I instantly smelled marijuana. Should have said something but against my better judgement ignored it. They started unassembling items to move for me that I didn't sign a liability waiver for and I said nothing. While I was uneasy I had used these guys so many times I just didn't want to start anything with the movers and the company to make it a really awkward situation.

Took almost 4 hours for them to move me, I was quoted approx $600 and it ended up costing $1500 after a 10% tip because it went much longer than expected. Definitely a huge shock to me and was upset because they disassembled my TV without asking and had dropped it while trying to reassemble it in my bedroom. Turn on TV and yes my 90" TV has lines in the screen and isn't operable. TV cost me $3000.

I then contact moving company because still at this time I'm like well I know these guys so I know they'll make it right and take care of me like normal. That's not what happened at all. Contacted Manager who kinda chuckled when I mentioned the weed smell on his crew like it was no big deal. Said well I can offer you $170 back for labor because they were high and moving slower than normal then I'll also let you go thru insurance as a courtesy because normally if we gave you a credit for the move we wouldn't let you submit an insurance claim *yes my mind is about to explode that this is told to me like I'm getting this big benefit and deal when I'm currently out $4500 for a move and broken TV*

Contact insurance company and it takes almost a month for them to go thru everything to give me a quote for the claim.

Company is found to be guilty and in this event per the contract they can do one of the following

-Try to repair TV for customer

-Try to replace TV with a similar one

-Make a monetary settlement offer for the actual cash value of the item

-Make a monetary offer at .60 a lb

Take a wild guess at what they chose?

Yes .60 a lb and they offered me $27 for my $3000 TV

The manager said that's him going above and beyond for me. I responded to that email 11 days ago mentioning the above and that the. 60 a lb was the worst option they could give me and with the circumstances with the crew being under the influence I expected so much more from them.

Have not received a response and just pressure from insurance company to accept my $27 claim or it'll go away. Was told I couldn't dispute cost because it is an option on the contract they can elect to do in order to "make things right"

I'll never use this company again.

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $1500

I wish I'd had the same experience that others have posted. The movers were nearly two hours late, had 2 movers instead of the requested 3, and one of them clearly didn't know what he was doing. My husband had to take the day off work to help, otherwise we never would've gotten everything done. We had no time to finish cleaning because we were well past our checkout time, which cost us money because management charged us cleaning fees. The movers were polite most of the time, but instead of trying to make up for poor service like he'd said, the guy in charge kept touting his experience and how he's going to start his own company before long. He didn't give any kind of discount for the inconvenience and even had the audacity to ask for a tip. I will NEVER use Moving Proz again and can't discourage hiring them enough.

I was very very stressed about my move. All the packing and disorginazation was really geting to me. I decided that I was going to do it myself originally with the help of some friends in a uhaul. Then when I realized how big the task really was I just wanted it to be over and done with. I filled out a form online and got quotes form 5 other companies but there was something about Derek I liked. He was very genuine and I could tell he wanted to help. They gave me a quote that was a bit higher than most of the other ones but explained that the guys were amazing movers. I just went with my gut and chose Moving Proz. The guys were early which was perfect because I was ready for the job to be over and done with asap. They were very polite and well manord and they woked really quick. All of my belonging were disassembled with there power tools and then reessembled with out a missing screw which was supprising. they got the job done early and then actually discounted me. Derek told me that they charge in incoments of 15 min so I would never be overcharged. The guys were in and out and on the road before I knew it. I would never do this myself and I would call moving proz in a heart beat again. Best decision I had ever made honestly.

Moving Proz moved me out of state to IL from KS and I can't say enough how thankful I was for having chosen such a great moving company. The level of service and care that I received was absolutely excellent. Marlene and Randi really helped me get everything set up prior to the actual move with constant communication as needed and Derek was really curtious and accurate with his in home estimate. The crew arrived on time and took great care of loading my items without any issues. My items were delivered un harmed and on time to my new home and properly placed in each room where I wanted. The crew worked so hard to make sure that everything was done in a timely fashion without risking or comprimising my belongings. I am forever grateful to the Moving Proz team for making my long distance move such a stree free expereince. Great team, great service!

I had to take this company to small claims court and I won. They never even bothered to show up..that should speak volumes. Since winning the judgement this company has completely ignored the judgement of the court so this is on going. They broke my 5 month old 70 inch big screen television. One guy carried it by himself and cracked the screen. When I called the company, this was the E-mail back. "Thank you fr submitting your damage claim. After review of your claim we regret to inform you that your damage claim has been denied." The company reviewed my claim and THEY decided it was denied. Thank gosh the Judge didn't see it that way.Case# 15SC00036 AYRES vs SHAW has been updated with a document with the following ROA entry:FILE STAMP 11/25/15, JOURNAL ENTRY OF JUDGMENT, PLTF APPEARS DEF DOES NOT APPEAR THE DEF FAILS TO APPEAR AND IS IN DEFAULT JUDGMENT FOR PLTF ON PLTF'S CLAIM IN THE SUM OF $1370.18 PLUS 12% INTEREST PER ANUM COSTS ARE ASSESSED AGAINST THE DEF PARTIES ARE ADVISED OF RIGHTS TO APPEAL (14 DAYS) C/S.The 14 days to appeal were also ignored by Moving Proz and Mr. Shaw is the owner of the company. With a court case number you should be able to verify this for yourself. Is this the kind of service you would like ??

My move was on 6 Nov in Leavenworth Ks I was told the moving team would arrive between 9am and 11am, they were late a couple hours, when they arrived I showed them around and asked them at he end could they move a couch And a dinning room table down stairs to my basement, those items were being sold and not to be packed on the truck, the only reason I asked them to do this is because I just had back surgery and I can't lift anything, that's why I hired them, at the end of the day they never brought the table or the couches down stairs, also at the end the lead guy appeared to be a little upset and broke my wife plastic Korean food container which wasn't a big deal but he never said sorry, some stuff was thrown to the front of the truck, they also broke a celling light bulb in my garage and never cleaned up the glass, my wife tipped them $130 between 4 movers. I sent the company a email and they never responded.
