• Make a plan. How long do you want to stay at your parents’ home? Decide on how much time you will need before you find a job, save money for something you want to buy, etc. Have a plan as to what to do – after all, you don’t want to spend the rest of your life as someone who cannot afford to have his/ her own place, right? Setting a deadline to achieve something will stimulate you to go for it. Otherwise you may be very tempted to just stay where you are and not move on with your life as you have initially planned. Remember – living with your folks is just one step in your lifeline and is supposed to be temporary.
• Discuss the issue with your parents. Are they happy to have you back home again? How long would they feel comfortable with you staying? Let them know what your plan is and discuss it with them. Now that you’ve moved out their life is different and they have the right to ask you to respect that. • Talk out duties and responsibilities. Yes, they are your parents, but you’re a grown up person now and you are expected to take more responsibility. Discuss issues related to housework, bills and home maintenance. Think about the shopping and cooking as well. Will you do it together or will you take turns?
• Draw a line. Your parents may see you as their kid forever but it is a fact you’ve grown up already. Ask them things which will make you feel more comfortable while living at their house like to knock on your door before entering your room. Surely they want you to feel at home but maybe they are not quite sure how to make this happen. That is why knowing what will make you feel more comfortable in your parents’ house or flat will make things easier for everyone.
• Ask them what expectations they have. Maybe your parents have difficulties of maintaining the grass in the yard or their car and they could ask you to help them and do these or  other things for them. Perhaps your parents won’t approve of late night loud parties if you want to make some. Talk with them what they will or will not accept  and try to reach to an agreement.
