Conveyancing Process questions and answers
Question
My landlord has just sold the flat I still live in, to a property developer. She said that I need to supply her with the names of the company who supply my water, gas and electricity. She said these are for her conveyancing solicitor and the new buyer will also need it. Is this true and why?
Answer
This is true and the reason that your landlord requires this information is that when selling a property, the prospective buyer will need to know that the utilities and services stated are connected to the property. The buyer will also need to know who the providers are so that when they move in, they can decide whether they wish to stay with the current provider or change to a new one.
