Dobbs and Drew have been excellent throughout the purchase of my Flat. from the first phone call to the last letter. They were alwase so helpful and answered all my questions and explained what they were doing and the next step. When i called all the staff were so helpful and Ellie and Kath made it feel like nothing was too much to ask. They definitely go over and above expectations. I was given a deadline by my sellers to complete and Lisa Dobbs had everything done and ready before the sellers solicitors. I will definitely be using Dobbs and Drew again.

So if you buy a house during a global pandemic and a property boom, you need to be realistic about the services provided. However, Dobbs and Drew were terrible at communicating both with me as their client and with the buyer and seller’s solicitors. The transaction was pretty simple: sell to first time buyers and buy from probate. The process took months, when it should have taken weeks. In the end I took the decision to pass my enquiries via the vendors estate agent, because I knew if I asked Dobbs and Drew it would simply delay things even further. This was a risk and there are certainly queries that weren’t properly addressed - way-leaves, for example, I had to investigate myself. It was hard to get hold of the conveyancer; I don’t remember actually speaking to her. The team in the office were friendly and seemed very nice. However, calling the office for a simple update usually meant 20 minutes on hold and then I usually only got vague commitments of actions and timelines. The price was good, but I would have paid more for a better service. It struck me they were simply overwhelmed with the number of transactions. They should have charged more and committed to offer a better service to fewer clients. Whether you can find anyone better, I don’t know, but despite the team being friendly, my overall experience was not positive and I would not use their services again.
We are sorry to see your comments regarding your service you received and are surprised that you did not seek to voice your concerns at the time. However, we disagree with your comment regarding the process taking months. As the date you formally instructed us was 11th September and the date of exchange of Contracts was 17th November, that's 9 weeks to exchange and then your vendor wanted 4 weeks between exchange and completion. The national average timescale for conveyancing is between 9-10 weeks and that is when there is no global pandemic causing the housing market to be overwhelmed.

Good service, easily contactable and clear in responses. Only dealt with one contact and the process was fairly smooth. Any issues caused by sellers solicitors and managed well by Amanda.

Amazing solicitors. Really went above and beyond, made everything easy, couldn't recommend them highly enough.

They say buying a house is one of the most stressful things you can do in your life, and with Dobbs and Drew as your conveyancer I can easily believe it. Getting a response to any query by email or phone was like getting blood from a stone, and when the responses came they were usually perfunctory. No stage of the process was completed without us having to chase them up repeatedly, and pray that your purchase doesn't involve anything but the most straightforward elements. Trying to find out information about our leasehold, or organising a deed of trust seemed to be complications well beyond what Dobbs and Drew were equipped to deal with.
Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear that you felt our service was not sufficient, we are disappointed that you didn't raise this during the transaction of which we could have rectified any grievances you had. In relation to your comment about the complications because the property was leasehold, it was difficult for us to gain the information you required from the landlord in a timely manner. These matters are of course are out of our control and we cannot compel a third party to engage with us. If you wish to discuss this further then please contact myself or any of my team at Dobbs and Drew.
