Conroy Removals

This is my second time of using Conroy Removers. If I could I would give them 10 stars!  My first experience with them was in 2018 and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised at how they followed up via email and cleared my goods quickly. The unpacking and arrangements of my furnitures was done professionally and efficiently.  Recently  I had to used their services for my relocation from Australia to Europe. They were very efficient, packing, removal and handling of my personal belongings is the best so far I've had in my years of moving. They communicated with me every step of the way. I honestly can't say they need improvement in any way. Keep up the good work. And a big thank you to all those who were involved with my move back to Europe.

The guy that came to the house to do the quote was very nice, that's the only positive!

After we booked them, it was terrible customer services. Could never get through to anyone on the phone.

On moving day they were late and short staffed so we had to wait for someone else to come.

We had movers in 2-3 different rooms of the house so impossible to 'keep an eye' on everyone. Which we didn't think would be an issue.

Fast forward 5 months when our stuff finally arrived in the UK from Aus and we found they had used an unbelievable amount of packing paper to maximise the size of our shipment, and therefore their profit!

When the local delivery men were bringing in the boxes we were laughing and carrying them in with one finger as it was 80% paper inside. I found a piece of paper (coffee machine instructions) wrapped in 3 pieces of A1 size paper and a fridge magnet wrapped inside 2 pieces..and that's just for starters. Whilst they deemed these items to be of high importance and therefore needed to be wrapped 2 - 3 times, our laptop was wrapped in ONE piece of PAPER and put under a large cement ornament. Oh yeah, we also found 5 empty boxes in one box!! We had asked them to put our glassware in them (as these are the boxes we purchased them in) but they decided to ignore that and assume we meant 'these empty boxes are family heirlooms' so they packed them and wrapped our glassware in PAPER!!

After making a formal complaint, they said 'we just pack what is in front of us' and they offered a measly AUD 100 compensation..I told them to keep it but cheers for the laugh!

Do not use them.

Move size: 1 Bedroom Flat Service cost: $7000

Worst relocation company ever. It took 3 month and 7 days for our shipments to arrive from Bangkok to Sydney. No response ever regardless if we call them, leave a message, or send them an email. Guitar damaged while inside the case (guitar case however was not damaged). Watches with its band cleanly cut off. Toy B.B. gun was opened and then loaded with a packet of B.B. bullets in it and obviously played with (I was not happy when my toddler touched the new toy gun and B.B. bullets came shooting out of it!)..

I can just imagine the staff sitting in the warehouse opening, playing, and damaging my stuff having a laugh while I’m desperately trying to contact them to get my household items and baby clothes to me ASAP. Thank to them my baby has grown out of half of the shipments moved over when they finally arrived.

And they are not cheap!

Conroy is great until you pay the invoice. We had a small 2bed apartment moved from Sydney to the USA. Paid a huge premium to have our items sent door to door in the same container (so we can ensure we actually receive our things). Once in the USA, we were told we had to have our items moved to a shuttle because we live in the mountains (even though we had a tractor trailer deliver to use previously). We asked Conroy to pay for this $375 AUD as we had already paid $15,000 AUD. They said NO, it was our responsibility, etc even though we were not receiving our door to door, secure service. It’s not about the money to me, it’s customer service and professionalism. Go elsewhere..

The only thing good about Conroy Removals is Sharon.. she was awesome and helpful from start to finish. She's the only reason that Conroy Movers gets any star at all.

And then we review the packers..

The packers seemed great and we were nothing but nice to them. We thought everything went well, until we finally received our stuff, 8 weeks later.

When we scheduled the move with Sharon, we talked extensively about crating specific paintings and a large, heavy Buddha. And then, on the day the packers arrived, we again discussed these items with them. We specifically talked with them about a painting that had massive value to us.. both monetarily and sentimentally. When we finally received our goods, we could not find a crate with this painting in it. We looked and looked.. kinda freaking out! We finally found it.. shoved in a box full of kitchen utensils.. not even wrapped in paper. All of the kitchen utensils were wrapped.. Seriously.. how is this not intentional??!

Other things we found: pieces of a game, spread throughout 5 different boxes. The Buddha that was supposed to be crated? Put in a "sturdy" cardboard box.

We don't (and never will) know what we did to offend the packers in Melbourne, but what I can do is warn everyone from ever hiring this crappy moving company. And Sharon, please go find a job elsewhere.. you're too good for this place.
