Century Removals

The sales man rushed his pricing up as he had a taxi waiting for him. He didn't listen to me when I said we used a 7.5 ton lorry to move in to the property, but assured us they had smaller vans if we needed it, included in the price. After rejecting other companies on cost basis we chose century for their low price, which really goes to show you get what you pay for. In hind sight the £6/700 we saved is well worth the peace of mind. They dropped off the boxes and tape as promised, extra charges, so far so good. They said they would come round day or two before to check the load size, didn't happen. They called and asked me to estimate as they were busy.  Next day it all went down hill, big time. They were 3 hours late, and only 1 small van turned up with promise of no lorry but another small luton only. With only 2 guys here I jumped into help. As we hoped to be finished by 11a.m my wife had to go to Newcastle to get the keys, leaving me to travel in the vans. The 2nd van arrived with 1 guy, and they rushed through the job not taking care of fragile taped boxes, drawers being scrapped, neighbors flowerbeds, or wardrobe door hinges getting broken. The vans were illegally loaded, overweight so we travel at very low speeds on motorway, especially uphill. I was asked to share driving, as driver was tired! They put in effort to unload to get home quicker, but they were never going to get a tip anyway. Even more, so when having asked for cash, no receipt he wanted to add on v.a.t! Avoid like the plague if you want a moving day you want to remember!
