Very disappointing experience

We had an incredibly disappointing experience with Careline in relation to the transport of our personal belongings from Spain to Ireland. Both the transportation service itself, and the customer care received post-delivery, was very poor.

I arranged for my belongings to be transported from Spain to Ireland. This included two BBQ’s, an office desk and chair and a dressing table and chair, as well as numerous boxes of clothing and kitchenware.

I chose Careline for the transportation service as I was keen to support an Irish business on my return to Ireland.

The items were collected from Spain on 6th November and I was contacted on 15th November to arrange delivery to my home in Ireland on 19th November. The delivery team were very helpful but they had identified that of the two pallets being delivered, there had been an issue with one pallet which resulted in damage to our belongings. The delivery team took pictures of the damage identified and confirmed this would form part of a report to be provided to us.

The issues identified were as follows;

1. The legs on our dressing table were broken and the table had been scratched

2. One of our boxes of clothing had significant water damage and was open on delivery

3. The office chair was saturated with water

4. Both BBQ’s had been damaged beyond repair (our Kamado Joe ceramic BBQ was smashed to pieces and attempts had been made to sellotape the pieces back together and the Weber BBQ was entirely misshapen)

The delivery team confirmed that we should have received a report the day before the delivery to notify us of the damage caused and with pictures and an explanation for same, but this was not received.

I immediately reached out to Careline and the level of service received from this point onwards was terrible.

I was not provided with any report outlining the issues with my belongings, any pictures of the damage caused, or any information about what occurred during the transport process which led to the extensive damage. I requested this information on numerous occasions and received very vague and non-committal responses from Careline. Careline were solely focused on submitting an insurance claim against the damage. I reiterated on numerous occasions that this could not be completed until I had a full report of the damage caused and pictures to support the claim. Notwithstanding this, Careline submitted a partially completed insurance claim without my consent.

After numerous attempts to obtain additional information on the circumstances surrounding my items and a request for a partial refund of the significant amount paid (c. €2,800) given the poor quality of services received, I requested a call from the Managing Director. I subsequently received a call from Kevin Carey who acknowledged that the service provided had been below Careline’s usual standards (as had been accepted by Careline in numerous emails previously). Kevin further confirmed that we should be entitled to fully reclaim the cost of the damaged items under an insurance claim and that he would discuss internally regarding a refund of the fees we paid.

Ultimately, following extensive back and forth with both the insurance claims agents and Careline, the insurance claim is covering 2/3rds of the cost to replace the damaged items and Careline have only offered a ‘goodwill gesture’ of €200 against the fees paid. This means that we have not been made whole as a result of the poor service provided by Careline and, despite accepting that the services provided were below par, they have offered less than a 10% refund of the fees paid.

We allowed Careline plenty of opportunities to provide a reasonable resolution to this issue but I have now come to the end of the road and am entirely dissatisfied. We therefore thought it was important to forego the €200 ‘goodwill gesture’ and write this review so hopefully other customers can take this into account when considering engaging Careline for transportation services.

Avoid contracting Careline

I have just moved my family from Ireland to Spain and we contracted Careline to deliver 2 cubic meters of goods. Every step has been littered with problems, the biggest of which is that we were left with our personal belongings which we treasure greatly destroyed beyond repair (10’s of picture frames smashed, PC monitors smashed, my child’s toys in bits, my wife’s jewellery box broken etc etc)

We received 2 different dates on when the goods were supposed to arrive, both of which my wife took days off to be at home and the goods never arrived. We finally got them 5 weeks after delivery (we were advised that they would be with us 2-3 weeks after collection, so we were 2 weeks without key things we needed to live)

It was suggested by Careline that the damage was because the boxes weren’t properly packed by us which was nothing short of outrageous.

I would advise avoiding contracting Careline at all costs. The minute your money is in their account, everything will go downhill, I assure you

Outstanding customer services and moving personel.

I moved my entire house contents from Calfornia to Ireland.

Cliona Collins was my coordinator from the beginning and she was exceptional.

Responsive, professional and an excellent communicator.

It took the worry out of the whole process.

The moving team who brought the goods from port in Dublin to my home were also outstanding.

Ger, Stephen and team. Professional, Intelligent and hard working with a sense of humor!

I highly reccomend this company for the excellent service that I received. Many thanks.

We lost valuable items, a lot of money, and energy on Careline Int.

We lost many things, a lot of money and a lot of time because of Careline International.

We moved cross-country within Europe, and upon pick up of our shipment, everything seemed smooth and easy. They were going to repack some items and help us pack paintings, bikes and other larger items.

The weeks went by...with no shipment in sight. Our main point of contact is not interested in helping and insists on telling us how much we are making them work on their vacation - we are clients paying for a service and are asking for a status update when the shipment of our home is not arriving around the date they committed to. Also, pass us on to a colleague, then?

Eventually we got help, and got a date promised for delivery for our shipment...three-four weeks later than agreed. On the day of the shipment, they lost track of our entire home - they were not able to locate our shipment?! Late the same evening they figure it out; they mixed our shipment up with one that was supposed to go to the other side of the country. Now we are worried, to say the least.

The day after, they arrive with our shipment and stress us through the process of signing that the delivery has happened - we never signed for the items, as the delivery personnel could not stay for long enough for us to do that. We look through all of the boxes, and cross-check the items in them to do our due diligence (because of them re-packing and packing some of our things more boxes arrived than sent), and several boxes were missing with both expensive and sentimental value.

We paid for insurance, and our point of contact confirmed we were following the rules of procedure, but, more than two months into this process, they revert back with false claims and are not able to help. In other words, we were fighting a losing battle from the day we paid them to ship our things. I would strongly advise you to not make the same mistake as we did.

Appalling

Our experience with this company has been very upsetting. We used Careline for a move from Ireland to the UK. It is doubtful that they could have caused any more damage to our property if they had tried. Scratched furniture, dented freezer, smashed plastic boxes, torn and crumpled cardboard boxes. We noted as things were unloaded several boxes which were marked 'this way up' had been packed into the lorry on their side (and there was a reason why they had been marked 'this way up'!). Worst of all though has been the fact that having told them that there were problems the 'operations department' (Stuart) have neither answered our calls nor phoned us back. Should be called 'Don'tcareline'. A horrible experience.

Horrible service- not reliable.

Horrible service- we were promised by the sales person- son of the owner of the company that we have our stuff delivered in 3 weeks. 5 weeks later no sign of it and what is even worse they are not sure where they are. We tried to contact the sales guy- no answer and no bother to get back to us. Lady from helpline promises she find out what is happening and will call back! Of course they charge us - but not sure when we receive our stuff. Disgusting!

London to Ireland.

I am a first time mover from London to Ireland through work so as you would expect very nervous.

I was recommended Careline by a friend and once I spoke with the people in there London Office I felt much more at ease and I had a Free no obligation survey and found after the Survey much more relaxed.

The job went smoothly both ends and can no say anything bad about them.
I read the below and see now that all is from Ireland out and not the UK out. So all in all a smooth move from start to finish.

Excellent service all round.

I was a bit nervous using Careline for my move from the UK to Dublin after reading the reviews via this website. However how wrong could I of been. from the moment I first enquired to the delivery of my items in Ireland I couldn't of faulted the staff or the service the Careline team provided. All items were blanket wrapped professionally and the guys handled my items with such care. I would definitely not trust everything you read in terms of reviews. Would 100% recommend Careline to my family and friends and would not hesitate to use their services again. 5 stars all round!

Disaster!

We had a container thinking that our things would be safer. How wrong can you be. A large statue arrived without it's head, another ceramic piece had been put in a box without packing and arrived in pieces. Oil paintings arrived with holes in them. An antique table is in pieces. Our sofa arrived filthy & without legs and we have unpacked every carton and they are not there. Expensive Panama hats packed with heavy goods on top of them - the hats arrived split. Chest of drawers arrived chipped. A Tiffany style lampshade packed on it's side and squashed flat. This list could go on and on. They also left two things behind, even though I pointed them out twice in the last hour the packers were there. When I contacted Careline they reminded me that the insurance is not new for old and they will cut the value of goods dependent on age, not condition of item, and that I'll have to cover the first 150euros of each item. So, I think they don't care about the condition goods arrive in. I will get cents on the Euro compensation.

Once they have your money, they don't care.

Had excellent service moving from Ireland to UK. Once I tried to get them to collect packing materials was an absolute fiasco. I rang the Irish office, was directed to the UK office who said I had to contact the Irish one who confirmed that Dominic in the Uk office would contact me. He didnt. I contacted the Irish office and he telephoned saying it was hard for him to find the time to do this. He was to telephone during the week which he did reiterating the above. I have one entire room unusable, no apology and no expectation of them collecting their materials.
