Long-distance move from Greater Manchester to Lancashire

Home removal

The guys Tony M, Alister and Ben E were punctual, professional and personable. Went above and beyond their remit. The packing service took all the stress away and ensured safe delivery of delicate items. I strongly recommend this company for your next move. Fantastic team. Sorry guys for the late review - only recently got on line. Thank you very much.

International move from Nottingham, Nottinghamshire to , WA

Transit of household goods from Nottingham to Perth, Australia.

We found the office staff friendly and approachable, but the overall service was disappointing. We hurried to prepare our small consignment of furniture in mid May on the promise of an early despatch to Western Australia. It was still in a London warehouse 6 weeks later. When it did depart we received inaccurate advice on which ship had received our consignment -at one stage 3 different ships were in the frame! It took 16 weeks from collection inn `Nottingham to customs inspection in Fremantle -much longer than we were led to expect.

When the furniture was unloaded, we found the largest of three small nesting tables was damaged beyond repair -2 of its legs had been shorn off in transit. It had been separated from the other 2 tables and so badly packaged, damage would be almost inevitable. The other 2 tables, which had been boxed, were chipped and need repair. In addition, bubble wrap had been used without protective tissue on a polished hall table and bureau leading to the bubble wrap imprinting on the surfaces.

So in conclusion, this was not a happy experience and I could not recommend Britannia to other potential customers.

Official company response

We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience of moving with Britannia Bradshaw of Leicester (Bradshaws of Leicester Ltd), and we were sorry to learn your experience of moving was unsatisfactory.

First, we were pleased you found the office staff were both friendly and approachable. We have investigated the details of your removal, and apologise that your shipment took longer to be completed than we originally anticipated; unfortunately once your belongings were ready to be shipped, it took far longer than we'd been advised by our central shipping office.

When shipping items by sea, the shipping companies will sometimes move containers from one ship to another, but as in the case with your shipment, the customer is kept abreast as to which ship their belongings are on.

We regret your items were damaged during the overseas shipping journey. We do our best to protect all items for shipping. However, due to the nature of shipping by sea, we can't protect against all eventualities, as much as we'd like to. All items were export wrapped in specialist overseas packing material, which does contain a layer of bubble between two protective layers. We regret that this packing material appears to have left a mark on your table and bureau.

We understand you purchased marine insurance for your removal to cover any eventualities. We hope this helps to rectify the damage caused to your items during the overseas shipping portion of your move.

We apologise for any inconvenience and frustration this matter has caused you. Your removal did not live up to your expectations - or our own

We would like to wish you all the best in your new life in Australia, and hope you are settling in to your new home well.

Part 1 of my move.

So far, so good - let's hope it stays that way. I moved into storage - just furniture, I wouldn't contemplate putting jewellery into storage - and this was carried out quickly and in a friendly way. There were 3 men in the crew - Paul, Luke and Daz - all helpful and completed within 4 hours.
The next step in to get my furniture from storage so let's hope that there is no damage.
My only area of slight dis-satisfaction is that I had to chase several times in order to get my packing boxes but that is a minor thing now.

Britannia Movers.

This is a terrible moving company. Avoid Britannia at all costs! I moved my belongings from my flat in Switzerland and stored them for a year while I looked for a flat to purchase in Edinburgh. While stored, there were lots of hidden fees and the insurance went way up in price. Then the move in was a disaster as the person they sent to be in charge was brand new, out of shape and terrible (I had booked my move months in advance so assumed I would get seasoned movers. I also paid to have two wardrobes and a bed installed. He had no tools or no clue how to put anything together. Not only that, they had lost the back and some of the hardware from my daughter's wardrobe. A week later they sent guys who put it together, said it was sound and fine to use but had no back, It wasn't and the doors fell on my daughter and damaged an oil painting. Britannia refused to offer any help or compensation. Thank god my daughter is alright but bruised (see picture). The owner apparently doesn't care about anything but money so pick a better company. Britannia is the worst!

Gruetzi and thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts on your experiences with moving from Zurich to Scotland. We've investigated the issues you've raised, and found that while Britannia Bradshaw International Removals & Storage (Manchester) did perform the removal of your household from Zurich in the summer of 2016, your belongings were delivered to and stored with Britannia Movers of Edinburgh / Britannia Movers of Glasgow.

Britannia Movers International is comprised of a group of independently owned branches, and Britannia Bradshaw and Britannia Movers of Edinburgh / Britannia Movers of Glasgow are under separate ownership.

From your email to Britannia Movers of Edinburgh / Britannia Movers of Glasgow in August 2016, you stated you were extremely pleased with the service that Britannia Bradshaw provided with the removal from Zurich to the UK and were complimentary to Mark and Martin, who performed your removal.

Unfortunately, after your items were placed into storage in Scotland and then delivered to you in July 2017 by Britannia Movers of Glasgow / Britannia Movers of Edinburgh, things did not go as well. We sincerely regret the service you received did not live up to your expectations.

While it was not our team who were on the job in Scotland, we do want to wish your daughter well and also best wishes for your new home.

Storage of personal items.

This company was used by the council to move my items and store them safe for me. When my items come back 8 days ago, they had damaged my cooker, microwave and TV. I rang office at Mucklowhill and I was told by their manager I had to fill a claim form in and also find a company to go to them and me and give them a written quote. Bearing in mind I had just received my whole house back from storage and they knew this, no help or compassion for what had happened to my items have been showed. I have been offered now a figure but they only offer you discount value which no one tells you this when it goes in for storage. I have had no cooker or microwave for over a week with 2 young children and now they want to pay me £300 less what my items are worth and also take my TV off me. They won't even let me keep TV until cheque clears and I have a new one discussing customer service. I would never recommend. Beware!

We were sorry to learn of the difficulties you experienced with your recent storage and removal.

Our team have spoken with you, and have come to a settlement agreement with you, and a cheque has been sent. The damaged television is not being collected, as you requested.

Your experience has been unusual, and we do apologise for your frustration while this matter was being resolved.

We wish you all the best in your new home.

Would not recommend.

We booked Britannia Bradshaw to undertake our house move in December. Although the 'moving out' portion of the move went fine, we weren't happy with the 'moving in' service. Our two removal men seemed to be in a real hurry, and did not take as much care as we would expect when moving in the furniture, causing some avoidable damage. Most significantly, the single bed we brought with us was not put together as it was before, I.e. it used to extend out into a double bed via a second set of slats, but this second set of slats were not fitted by the movers. Although we did inspect each room before the movers left, we did not identify this problem until a few hours later as the slats are obviously obscured under the mattress; we then found the second set of slats behind some boxes in the same room. I can't see how the movers could have neglected to do this by accident, as it's obvious the bed looks very different to how it did when they took it apart. The movers also seemed rather put out when we asked them to move some items of furniture which they had placed incorrectly (they had not asked us in the first place where exactly we wanted these items to go) and complained to us that they had a long way to travel home. But, perhaps most annoyingly of all, the management team Brittania Bradshaw have failed to respond to the formal complaint I put in, hence why I've chosen to leave this negative review in a public forum.

Official company response

Thank you for your feedback - input from our customers helps us improve the service we provide.

We regret you were unhappy with the service you received during your move. When we became aware of your concerns, we immediately reviewed the matter with the team involved to ensure a situation such as this does not happen again.

When we received your email from 31 December 2017, Emma from our office team called you to apologise and arrange for someone to come to your home and put the bed together correctly. You explained that you couldn't right then, and would get back to us to arrange for a time to have someone come out to correct the error. We haven't heard from you again until this review, so we assumed that you would be in touch when the time was right for you.

We would welcome the opportunity to assemble the bed correctly for you. Please call us on 0161 877 5555 and arrange a time that would suit for us to assemble the bed.

Again, we apologise that your removal didn't live up to your (and our) expectations. We take comments from our customers seriously, and will be using your experience as an example for our men of how we could have done better.

We would like to wish you all the best in your new home, and look forward to being able to correct the assembly of your bed.

Poor management.

Let's just get one thing right , the drivers and porters are the best , the management and office personnel are rude and unhelpful , I was told during there busy period I can pick it up myself , when I complained about treatment was told meant get another firm to do it but was also told all there crews and contractors were busy so where was I supposed to find this company and told it was meant in a helpful manner , received an email to speak to someone there , rang and was told in a meeting said just got email then got to speak to a person that was of no point , I have relatives whom are planning to move from Anglesey back to England they will not be recommended by me , ever.

We were pleased to learn that you were happy with the service provided by our men when they delivered the items we had in storage to your home. We've shared your comments with them.

However, we sincerely regret you were unhappy with your dealings with our office. As you know, your request for delivery of your items from storage came at a peak time of year for the removals industry, and we weren't able to accommodate the dates you'd requested. We apologise for the misunderstanding regarding the delivery of your items from storage; it was never our intention to inconvenience you or cause offence.

We'd like to wish you all the best in your new home.

Shocking Experience.

We had used this company a few years ago without any issues so decided to use them again, what a terrible decision this was ! A lot of our expensive items were damaged and we have had to go through the insurance company which obviously is hassle and takes time. We had some sentimental items also damaged which the insurance will not cover so asked Brittania to pay for these but they refused. We are very very disappointed with the whole experience.

The office staff were very good but unfortunately they do not move your possessions from one place to another.

International move from Birmingham, West Midlands to Barcelona, Catalunya

International removal service.

Used Brittania Bradshaw for our international move last week. They arrived on the day 10 minutes early which was great as it stopped me from stressing out that they may not turn up. Men were very friendly and very professional and they made the removal seem effortless. I was very happy with their work and would recommend them to anyone. Nothing was a problem to them and I felt very confident that all aspects of the move were taken care of.

Over the moon customers.

We’ve moved house numerous times and this was the first time we’ve used a professional removals company and I have to say, I don’t know why we haven’t used Bradshaws in the past as from start to finish they were worth every penny and made ‘yet’ another move stress free.
Our removal guys were friendly, quick and efficient and we couldn’t have asked for better. Paul, John and Matt, you’re a credit to your company, in fact every member of staff we had dealt with throughout this process have been excellent, thank you.
