Question
I have just had a surveyor round to do a homebuyers report. He was here for some time. He took a photograph of my kitchen and not sure if he took any other photos of other rooms.
Is he allowed to do this without asking permission. What reason would he take the photographs?
Answer
Surveyors frequently take photographs when undertaking surveys. It is assumed that permission will not be withheld as they are a crucial part of the survey process. Nevertheless, courtesy would dictate that the surveyor should advise the property occupants accordingly.
The photographs act as an aid memoir when drafting the report or possibly for future reference if a query arises after the report has been submitted.
